Motor swap info needed.
1987 302 4x4 automatic. Blew the motor and need a new motor. It's a ranch truck that be registered ever again. What year and motors will fit the current tranny bolt pattern and motor mounts?

Any 302/5.0 will bolt right in and that will be the easiest swap, an '86-91 truck motor is a direct swap with no changes to anything while other years will require some minor changes. A 351/5.8 will also bolt up to the trans but requires a different computer and flexplate and you need a complete 5.8 motor as none of the EFI stuff will transfer from the 5.0. A 300 I6 could also be done but would be a big project requiring a donor vehicle as there are a ton of changes needed including wiring, computer, frame towers and mounts, rad and hoses, and the flexplate.
