Hi, I am new to diesels, I am looking at a 2011 f350 with only 29000 miles on it. What should I be looking for as far as wear and tear? The carfax shows oil was changed regularly. Like I said I am new to diesels and any help would be appreciated.
If built before October 2011, jTYPO SHOULD HAVE SAID 2010) ust walk away. Not worth the risk regardless of how good it looks or how cheap it may appear. The 2011 model began being built in March 2010.
late model 11 (after sepember 2010) and up are great.

Reason: Typo year
But, if this is on a Ford dealer's lot, insure they sell you a Ford ESP warranty. When the 2011s break, it costs a lot on money and time to get them back on the road. I believe that the dealer can inspect an out of warranty Ford product and get you coverage.
Some of the engines contain an exhaust valve that falls apart. It's not every truck but when it happens, it's often a sad story. 2012 and beyond do not contain this issue.
I sooo wanted a dealer lot found 2011 diesel with Lots of prior owner added options but due to these warning's I passed on it. I finally had to settle for a lesser equipped 2014, FOR LESS MONEY.
