missing shroud

I just found this shroud in a bunch of automotive junk this sketchy SOB I let work on my excursion gifted me.

My stereo has been making this weird noise after turning my car off for a while. Like maybe its settling or not fitting right. Its only been happening about since the time this AH worked on my excursion.

How hard is it to put this shroud back on? and in how bug of a hurry should I be to do it?

Leave it off, or put it back on, it has nothing to do with your stereo. It's just the "tool holder" that goes over the top of your radiator and covers the gap from the grille to the engine bay. Your emergency jack sits on top of the tray once it's put back on.

As Stewart said, the things just serves to hold tools while working on your rig.

Ya don't think that it has anything to do with keeping the air directed into the radiator?

You really think that would insert a piece that didn't affect performance/emissions? Why not save the $1.76 over the run of a million vehicles each year?

Just asking...

Sure, but I posted from my experience, not from knowledge of any data Ford may have used to justify its need.

Logically, I agree with your implied assertion, that there is a purpose other than aesthetics. But I've also driven around without one for a period of time and if there was any incremental increase in any temps, I never noticed it. So without any documentation showing why Ford installed them, for me, based on Fords reason, it can be there or not.

For my reason though, I prefer it to be there because I use it to hold my tools.

I'd say that piece serves more purpose to keep your fingers and misc items from making their way down there.

$1.76 part might save you a lot of money in litigation because some idiot stuck their hand into a spinning fan.

^^^ What he said ^^^

All Ford needs are a bunch of workers comp claims from mechanics and suits from shadetree mechanics that are burning themselves on radiators, etc.

All shined up, they look pretty good in place. If you're not going to polish it up and reattach those peeling stickers, leave it on the garage wall with your license plates.

Besides keep fingers and tools away from rotating blade, It also is where the serpentine belt routing pictures and emmisions cert stickers go, but my stickers went AWOL from not enough glue being used at the factory to offset the cost of said $1.76 plastic part. :-)

You can always print up the ones I have listed in the tech folder and keep 'em in your glove box!

While we are on the subject of "Shrouds"....there is a fibrous shroud that covers the AC lines that I have circled in orange. Any idea what this part is called and maybe a part number??

Thanks........

That shroud doesn't cover the radiator fan or any "spinny things" for that matter.

It does keep some engine heat off the front of the radiator but won't hurt anything to leave it off.

It does keep tools and "stuff" from falling into the abyss though.
