My 87 BII's A4LD tranny was destroyed so against my better judgement I aquired a used one out of a 1985 BII 2.8 and of course in did not work properly after installing it in my 87 2.9 none of the forward gears will engage but reverse will with it's usual authority and no hesitation . Is it possible for the pump to be bad and still be able to operate in reverse ? Another question
I have is , Should I have used the driveplate from the 85 with the trans ? I welcome any feedback . I know transmission problems and questions are posted so often that you would think they all have been answered somewhere sometime but I scanned through every post back to the beginning and found nothing that helped.
