Just bought a 99 v10 guy I bought it from told it needed an egr valve I run the codes its throwing a p1152 code which is lack of upstream heated oxygen sensor switch - sensor indicates rich bank no2. Truck runs great one minute then the next it sputters and can smell it running real rich is this an o2 sensor problem or egr? Need some help here.
well how the heck do i figure out what it is lol. i need to get it fixed asap i dont want to just start throwing parts at it to figure out the problem. if it was a stuck or leaky injector wouldnt it be doing it all the time? it doesnt do it all the time it go from running great to running rich and sputtering a little for 10 minutes back to running great for awhile.
I typed that quickly, and didn't have the time to go into any depth. Still don't, but I'll try. (Was actually hoping someone else would chime in )
First, hookup a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail and drive it around. Watch the fuel pressure. It could be the fuel pressure regulator sticking open. Also check for vacuum leaks going to the fuel pressure regulator - if the regulator has no vacuum, it'll go full-pressure which is 38-40lbs and make it run rich.
Fuel pressure should be around 28-30 at idle and cruising, and 38-40 under load.
Check that first, and report back, especially if you manage to get it to run rich while you have the gauge hooked up.
