I had an issue last summer with my truck shaking when I hit the brakes and also when the roads were wet the front brakes would lock up and it became dangerous. I had the rotors turned and checked my pads and they were good and that took care of the problem but now it has started locking up again when the roads are wet. No abs light so I don't know what to check. Any suggestions?
When you resurfaced the rotors did you replace the pads also? If you didn't, shame shame. You never resurface, or replace, rotors without changing the pads also. Same thing applies the other way when replacing pads. You create an uneven matting surface between the two when you don't. That is where a lot of brake noise and other problems arise from. When replacing rotors make sure the hub surface is clean. Take a wire brush and make sure you get all of the crud (rust, dirt etc.) off. Even a little bit can cause lateral run out issues.
What kind of shape are the calipers in? Did you relube the slides before you put them back on? You should always clean the slides off and put fresh grease on them. Not a lot, but enough to reduce the friction. If it's just one side locking up the caliper piston may be sticking. If this is the case, replace the calipers in pairs as you will cause an imbalance in braking pressure between the left and right if you don't.
Not very likely as they don't fail very often, but a defective brake proportioning valve can cause too much pressure to go to the front wheel causing them to lock up.
