I do Rick, took the ground wire from the battery to the frame and all other grounds from that..

I'd say that you have to clean the frame, That ground probably got wet and made it better for awhile.

My frame is spotless, I ground off the paint before installing the ground wire when I changed things then plastered it with dielectric grease..

That should have taken care of a bad ground but I would still check it.
