i have a 2wd 95 chevy 1/2 ton, i want to lift it enough that i can fit some 31" or 33" on it, just so i will have more ground clearance, i cleaned out the front airdam the other day, it just ripped off like nothing, i am 16 so not rich, and got this truck because its what i was given so please don't start running me down because its chevy, i also will need to know what rearend i will need, has 3.08 right now, 350 engine, and 4 speed auto
you can fit 31'' stock right now, i would go with 373 for performance with those tires, any bigger i might step p to 410 just so you can feel a difference. that is a good truck don't let these guys get to you. i have a suburban and it has been the best truck for reliablility so far, it was great for a first car for me (I ran it into everything) i have 373 and 31'' tires and it goes great with it set up that way. if you still want lift look in to fabtech for front lift coils, they are kinda cheap and easy to install and lift blocks in the rear, that should clear 33'' good luck.
Hey a body lift will work really good to give u more ground clearance they run about 89.00 to 150.00 depending on if u get the bumper mounts and if your truck is extended cab or regular. If u are worried about the gap, there is a company that makes gap gaurds if u look in the back of 4x4 magazines they will show you. If u can afford gap gaurds they are easy to make out of daily house hold things. I hope that helps.
A body lift only raises the body higher off the frame, so the only gain is room for tires. To do it right I would get a good quality suspension lift. A less expensive alternative would be 2 or 3 inch lifted spindles and 2 or 3 inch blocks in the rear. You would still maintain the factory ride quality because you are using stock springs.
