EGR error code
I have a 92 f150 4x4 5.8L with 35" tires on it. I know I need to change the gears but don't have the fundage right now.
I sure would like some help with a problem I'm having. Last month during elk season in arizona I was driving up some very steep switch back moutians on the highway (aproximate speed 25mph-35mph)at about 7000-8000 ft elivation. My truck started running like crap. Every time I steped on the gas it would stuter and cough and have no power.I was about ready for a tow truck.BUT, It never died and would Idile fine. It was almost like the cataltic converer was pluged. 10 to 15 minutes later it ran just fine up hills or where ever I went. Like nothing happened. The check engine light has come on a few times before this but always went off by itself and the truck always ran fine. The light is comeing on more frequntly so I checked the codes and it says 332 in memmory ( not enough flow through the EGR). I puled it off the truck and cleaned it , But still getting same code and engine light. Can an EGR valve or EGR solinoid cause a truck to run this bad? It runs fine now but I'm hesitent to take it on any road trips for fear of it running like crap agian. Sorry for the long note, Justin

did you clean the passage where the egr goes on the manifold? It will most likely be stopped up with carbon. Also, check the egr with a vacuum tester, it will tell you if the diaphragm is leaking.

EGR error code
Just for your interest, I have a '93 with a 5.0 and I have put a piesce of stainless steel shim stock in between my EGR and the manifold to block it off and the truck runs fine with no codes showing . It has been like this for 6 months now so I am confused with the " low flow" message from your computor. Any other thoughts?

It looked clean were it bolted up to the manifold. It held a vacum alright. Has anyone heard of the sensor on top going bad or maybe the solinod next to the coil were the other end of the vacum tube is? It smells rich when it doesnt want to run right. Thanks for the help, Justin
