1983 f100 4.9l straight 6. Does anyone know where i can find replacment studs for the power steering bracket that attaches to the timing cover?
have you went to a hardware store and looked to see if they have allthread? That might work. Something like this http://m.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-5-8-in-x-24-in-Zinc-Threaded-Rod-802187/204276131
Thanks but I'd like to find the proper studs. It was rigged and caused the bracket to be at an angle throwing the belt. Home cheapo and the auto parts stores did not have it
It's a 5/16 stud. Not sure what thread it is. Also not sure what spacing is needed between the bracket and timing cover hence the reason im looking for the correct studs.
Don't get too hung up on having original style parts. It can lead to frustration working on these trucks, they are getting pretty old and a lot of this stuff is not available anymore. Sometimes you have to rig your own pieces to make it all work.
There had to be something else that was keeping the bracket from sitting right.
Only way I can see hardware being a cause is if it could not tighten up the assy.
My 300 has a Saginaw pump and I am sure does not have all the "factory" hardware as the truck has been in a few different hands before me.
I also have a Ford pump but don't know how it bolts to the motor as it was in my parts truck with no motor other wise I would take pictures so you could see how it is set up.

They didnt have the right spacer on one of the bolts on the back bracket and added some to the one on the timing chain cover. Took some washers and matched the one for the back bracket. Bought a couple 5/16th bolts for tne front on and all is good now.
