I have a 2002 F250 Diesel and having an issue with the windows, door locks and mirrors. They are not working and when you press the buttons there is a buzz noise. Also noticed that the outside cab light stays on for a long period of time after you turn off the truck. Does this sound like the GEM module or could it be something else?
To me it kinda of sounds like the GEM module. Typically tho it is wipers and radio going nuts when the GEM goes out.
When you say for a long time, just how long before the light shuts off? Is it only the rear cab light or is it the inside light as well?
As for the windows and locks, It almost sounds like bad connections as the switches. Not sure on the these trucks but on my old bronco, the passenger door was the master. But I would go through and check to make sure all connectors are fully seated.
GEM (General Electronics Module) was prior to 2002. Our 2002's have a VSM (Vehicle Security Module). Part number 4C7Z-15604-AC for year model 2002.
Sounds like VSM to me as well. I know that I need to replace mine, but it just has not become enough of a bother for me to take the time to do so. Dealer programming is required, Used VSM's can be had for about $50-$200+, depending on where you get it, but then the dealer programming is typically about $75-$125 on top of that.
