I purchased a new motor craft TPS from auto nation white bear lake. Called the rep said this would work. Trying to avoid a new assembly and/or Dorman sensor. I get it and the pig tail I have is round and the new TPS is square. I found on Rock Auto that there is a replacement pigtail that would fit the new OEM sensor. Anyone tired this or now someone who has?
Thanks to all for the replies. I've been more than busy at work and had a death in the family which is why for my delayed update.
So it depends on who you speak to at the parts store on what will work. The guy I spoke to yesterday said you can't buy the sensor for a 97, the whole assembly has to be purchased. We didn't get into discussing the pigtail I found on rock auto. I have to get the truck back on the Rd so I pulled the trigger on a new pedal for 250 which included overnight shipping. I did buy a Dorman and wouldn't you know, it didn't fix the issue. So, that's going back and so it MC rectangle shaped TPS that I purchased. Very excited to get this issue behind me. Fingers crossed.
As confirmation on buying non-OEM sensors, I spoke to a diesel mechanic that we are thinking of hiring for a new business. He also states he has no luck with after marker sensors and says just bite the bullet and buy OEM. "Your life will be happier. Diesel parts are expensive and usually have to be purchased online. Just part of the deal". -As we all know!
More important question is why do you think it's a TPS problem. They seldom just totally fail, what's the issue. Also when looking for parts for a 97 always ask for the same part for a 96, especially on-line, just lie. 97 was the last year for the OBS diesel truck and some systems won't quote you the correct part.

Well, I keep getting a TPS code and when I use my brother's pedal I don't have an issue. So If it's not the TPS, it's the IVS those can't be sourced, unless from a junkyard. Im not opposed using a junkyard part, but I don't have time to deal with finding one or getting and possibly dealing with a bad part. For me I just want it fixed the first time.
The new IVS is co branded with ford and Eaton, the TPS isn't but still has CTS on it.
You could of probably just cleaned the contacts on the IVS, they get crudy with dust and the lube they came from Factory.
I tried that and I did Ohm the sensor about a hundred times with no issues. It just leads me to believe it's the TPS especially since the scanner was giving me that code as well.

Amen!!! I don't know if it's because I getting older or that having a child, but my biggest fear is getting stuck on the road. I know it can happen with a brand new vehicle, but I am beginning to learn my lesson that nothing in life comes cheap if you want it right the first time. I've been so pissed in the past for going buying half *** parts to just to have fail and spend more time fixing it when I just don't have the time. I don't have the money either, but believe you all get my point.
Now just have to find something else to do. I have rear end oil sitting shelf for about two years....

I am with you 100,000 times brother. Just have a read at my El Paso debacle. What a stressful nightmare I never want to live through again.

WOW!!!!
The past several months I haven't been able to read everyday religiously, so I've missed a lot going on. I had to look up your issues which it seemed like you had several things going on and seems like your still working through them today.
All I can say is how impressive it is to have so many come to your aid when you were down and it was all due to a relationship gained from a Ford pick-up. You really find out who good people are when you down and they take time to help you out.
