Carl, source for pressure blaster tips?
You mentioned in a post a couple months ago that you buy ceramic tips for your pressure blaster at 5 for $3 or something like that. I bought my blaster through Cummins Tools and they said they won't get more in for a month?! I found some that will work through the shop I bought my gloves from but they want $3 each. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I might try George's approach and buy some ceramic tube and make my own but I would have to figure out a way to hold it in the valve. The nozzles I have are sort of cone shaped.
Thanks!
Post or email a PIC and the O.D. There are a number of discount tool places in the Quad Cities. I might be able to get you a few and you'll only have to buy one of two expensive ones to get by. Sounds like your blaster really eats them. I use mine too long I'm sure but they last for quite a few hours.
If they are correct then pay for them.
I bought a case so got plenty!
I think there are 4 in the pack of 3 various sizes.
Fenders,
I appreciate the offer. I'll see how Carl's tips work before I ask you to drive all over the Quad Cities. I don't think the tips are wearing abnormally fast. I did a lot of blasting in three days. I did realize I should have been rotating the tips as one side was blowing through while the other side had plenty of material left. I got a couple different tip sizes with my blaster and the ones with the 1/8" orifice seemed to work best.
I finished the initial blasting of the frame on Wednesday. It's flash rusting in spots already due to the high humidty. We'll fix the cracks in the frame this weekend and I'll go over it real quick to get rid of the flash rust before shooting primer. That will happen Sunday or Monday. I removed the tranny crossmember and cab mounts for repairs, too. I'm not in a hurry to get those done since we can bolt them back on any time.
You got me in the mood to blast a little so i went to pick up some tips today. They are $1.40 each here and the wrong size for mine. I ended up buying a new valve that sounds like the one you were describing before. Sort of a hardened ball valve.
Carl
Would you be so kind to measure the O.D. on your tips. I think I better get some more located so I am not in a panic search sometime. I am curious how many different sizes there are now. I wouldn't think too awful many but there are at least two for sure.
I have both kinds now. The one I bought today like Kevins uses tapered. It is way better than my old one that just stayed half clogged and never completely shut off. The old one uses straight ones but I have no interest in using it if I don;t have to. So I guess I need to find tapered for cheap if I can. No emergency as I have 3 left and no huge projects planned.
