Anyone running a dual battery on their Super Duty? (I'm new here and haven't searched to see if there are any aftermarket kits with battery tray).
If it's a 6.7L diesel it has dual batteries. If it's a 6.2 gas motor I have no idea and don't really care. There are lots of guys on here getting SDs with the gas motor that can answer that.
If you get certain accessories it will also have dual alternators; like the preheater (only on the diesel) or something else I can't remember...
OR you can opt for the dual alts as an option.
Nice! Thanks. Nowhere in any of the info I saw including Build and Price did it say 2 or dual batteries. (I'm not yet an owner - planning to buy in a week or 2).
I assume it comes with a battery isolator, correct?

If it's a diesel, NO. It requires the two batterys in parallel for the amperage when starting and feeding the glow plugs.
Thanks for that. Anyone ever run a 3rd battery off an isolator for other loads like 12v refrigerator, etc? Is there room for a third battery under the hood or would it have to go in the bed?

Build and Price is not very helpful on this option for trucks with the 6.2L V8 engine. Here's what you need for option 86M, from the January 2017 Update to the 2017 Super Duty Order Guide:
According to the NADA Guides, it looks to me like the option comes with 2x size 78 "medium duty" batteries instead of a single 78; NADA lists the option's MSRP as $120. I doubt it comes with an isolator.

The best way to charge batteries for "house" loads such as a 12V fridge is by using the +12V battery charging conductor (pn #4) in the 7-pin trailer connector. This circuit is automatically disconnected (via relay) from the truck's alternator(s) and starting battery(ies) when the ignition is turned off.
I'd look to placing a "house" battery in the bed, if not in/on the camper. For example, scroll down ~1/2 way or so.
Depending on what you're planning (again assuming the gas engine), you might also consider ordering the "extra extra HD alternator" (240 A), option #67E; it's an $85 option.
If you order the medium duty battery option when ordering with the 6.2 gas engine it will come with dual batteries. It doesn't say it in the ordering description but my fleet sales guy showed me this at the dealer ordering guide.
FYI, thkse 12v fridges will run for days before draining a battery down and even then they all will shut off so you dont kill your battery. I ran one in my Jeep for a while. I was concerned at first but i just wouod start it at least once a day for a bit and never had issues. Even with heavy winching my single battery was fine. I did carry a small battery jump pack though just in case. Lots cheaper and easier to deal with and takes up minimal space.
