It also has a 4,800# rear axle, LT tires, different rotors, heavier springs front and rear and heavier shocks front and rear. I don't know if the rear axle is actually heavier or if LT tires up the load capacity.
At one point it had a heavier frame thickness, but I'm not sure if that still applies.
Same rear axle housing and axle shafts. The 7 lug wheels have a higher weight rating to match the LT tires and increased GVWR. heavier springs and shocks to match.
As to the increase in payload, it depends on the equipment package, but a fair guess on increase would be ~ 8200-7300 for a normal truck and ~8200-7700 compared to a max tow. so between 500-900 pounds additional payload total.
I was surprised to see a somewhat small payload of 1141 printed on the driver's door. With a tonneau cover, bed liner, and four mid-sized people, that leaves a mere 300#, or so, for gear. I was hoping that stiffer rear springs was the only difference between the standard and max payload options. That would be a simple upgrade.
