I bought a 1991 Ford Bronco with a 302 (5.0) and it had installed on it a Jacobs Electronics, in three pieces, 1. a "ultra torquer- sr. No. 198972, 2." off road Energy pak, ultra team-sr. No. 200000, 3.- a small black box about 2.5x2.5 square, this plugs into the back of no. 2. the lettering is mostly gone, but I think it says Power Module.
Now to the point, I started having trouble with the electronics on the truck and traced it down to the 1. Module, which I think is like a coil and put the coil wire back to the original coil.
This worked fine until recently when the engine started to back fire through the intake, after removing all of the three parts, it is still back firing, I know when I replaced the spark plugs I found them to have a lager gap and that the wires to the distributor cap was wired differently,
how does the engine run? smooth? rough? rearange you plugwires to see if you have (crossfiring), insulation breakdown causing one wire to jump fire to another causing it to fire when its not suposed to. ? just another thought. DW
