Farewell Mt Goat

Everyone show a little sympathy- Thomas's jeep went up in flames yesterday . No one was hurt. He does have comp insurance so he might get a little money back- but probably not enough to get a comparable rig.

That royally bites! I am really sorry to hear about this. Seems it went up really fast. I wonder if there was a fuel leak somewhere, or something similar.

I have always cringed every time someone used a torch on a vehicle. I watched a guy torching the bolts out of his shocks because he didn't want to waste time cutting them out. The rubber mounts went up in flames inside of an implement dealership. I may or may not have freaked out a little bit. He seemed calm like it was no big deal. I ran and got a hose and we got the fire out. I am guessing he has done this before, but still I can think of at least 4 other ways to remove a bolt than put a hot wrench on it. It scares the heck out of me. Too many things that can go wrong.

Used a hot wrench several times- never had a glaring issue that I can recall.

Just makes me nervous personally. That's maybe just me.

Wonder what Thomas found out on his insurance?

I haven't heard much from T recently, did you get a chance to ask how insurance treated him?

If the work was being done on someone else's property, the insurance company may be dragging their feet and looking to stick the property owners liability insurance. The old how can we get out of paying trick.

Ugh.. insurance companies make me irritable. I pay in each month for them to cover me for legitimate incidents, and they try to find ways out it. Ya gotta have it, but I guess they don't feel they gotta pay back.

Well to be fair allot of people abuse insurance companie-- thinking that if I pay for insurance then If I do something stupid the insurance company should pay for it-- but on the flip side they have waaaaayyyy too much power in deciding what doctor you can see and how much they will pay and what the hospital can do etc etc etc
