1994 E40D Shift Problem
Recently replaced the E40D in my '94 1/2T 2wd with a used one from a '96. Now I have harsh shifting occasionally, and a check engine light. I didn't have a light with the old (broken) trans.
Because the connector for the manual shift sensor was different on the '96, I re-used the old one. In reading some of the other posts, it sounds like I need to upgrade to a newer 95+ sensor.
Is this a parts store item, or Ford-only? I'm sure the new trans is mechanically okay, but I don't want to destroy it if the sensor is what ruined the old one.
