Has anyone removed a few leaf springs to gain a softer ride? Or replaced with softer leafs? My 49 F1 rides fairly rough. Hoping not to go to a whole different suspension.
One of my project truckes is getting Posie Smooth glide classic truck springs front and rear. Lower the truck 3" front and rear. Ordered them from Speedway Motors (free shipping). Cant tell you how they ride, but rumor has it these springs with front and rear sway bars give 70% IFS at a fraction of the cost.
On my 51 F3. I removed 3 leafs out of the rear leaf spring. Every other one starting with the second from the bottom and worked my way up. Helped alot and made the whole.truck sit alot more level front to back.
I removed all the helper springs and every second spring on the main springs on the rear of the Merc M-68 (1 ton); lowered it about four inches, but more importantly made a HUGE difference on the ride.
