Love the Pine Sol reference! You are so right about the oil etc. With the supply/demand theory, fuel injection being almost exclusive now, carb parts are harder to find. I like your workshop, looks almost like you could live in it.

Old pot, 50/50 with water on the stove did an awesome job. The hell with $30 for the gallon can of mild carb cleaner

picked up new front clip yesterday, cost a case of beer��. Now i just need some time
04-05 oil prices went out of sight. Now that oil fell back down of course antifreeze and engine oil are still priced the same. Antifreeze shiuld be $5 gallon and oil $1-$1.5 a quart

nothing photo worthy has happened, should this weekend though, been working on breaking down the generator for scrap, havent had much spare time(work, kids etc)
Anyone have a good source for a decent holley tuning kit? finding things like this used at a decent price seems almost impossible these days. Used carbs for less than $100 are hard to come by...Really hurts the direction ebay has gone.

Carb Kits
I have been trying to find a rebuild kit for both my trucks. BOTH accelerator pumps were bad. 4350 on my 460 and 2bbl on my 351M 78 4x4. Finally decided to just deal with it on the 460 for a minute when a job popped my way and I bouhtb the adapter plate from Summit Racing for waaaay too much, even with my discount I felt like I was bent over a barrel. Had a fully functional, complete, Edelbrock lying around, and it STILL cost me $75 to swap a carb. I got lucky with the 2bbl. I ran into a past employer ( I was car chief for his Nascar race car), got to whining about carbs and he said he might have something for me. An hour later I was in possession of the freshly rebuilt ORIGINAL 2BBL from his late 60's truck, WITH TAG STILL ON IT! Put it on this morning when the rain quit, primed the carb with the electric fuel pump, accelerator pump had good squirt, choke on ( manual, no cable yet) and fired up immediately! I love it when a plan comes together!

anyone here have a link to a kit for head porting? im assuming carbides etc. My die grinder is a pos from husky thats stuck wide open, so i would need one of those too.
Ive searched and havent really found much. Id like to grab the 30-40 hp on the table and possibly a 219-227 vodoo cam that Scott recommends, and headers, later on pick up a used 750 carb to maximize the potential of this sucker.

I have an old school central pneumatic.
lately when I need and air tool I buy aircat.
for what you’re after don’t mess with larger valves....if you are careful around the seats you won’t need a valve job either.
But if you stay around exhaust guide and port only and away from the bowls your bang for the time buck is the biggest and no risk of nicking a seat.

I dont plan to do valves or anything, more just follow scott's budget porting. Ive been down the big valve head road, lol
I appreciate the helpful tips, sounds like youve spent a little time breathing the metal dust from heads.
Im looking to follow a mild build such as this. When i pull the heads i will confirm but i believe my compression is higher than this

That is a good point, any idea what stock cfm is on intake side?
stock exhaust side is around 120-130ish? ive payed more attention in my reading to exhaust vs intake for my purposes quite honestly.
Wish i could have made the damn 400 work, but this cheap low hour 460 just had to come along, hahah.
At least with the 400 the heads flow good box stock for a truck motor. Fix the quench/compression and slap a cam and tune it and your good.
