Thanks for the reply. I just thought the diffence may have been between the 2wd and 4wd trucks. So, since the edge is made look like a 4wd that it had the 10" brakes. But motor size seems more logical. Is the 4.0 made by Mazda?
Nope, designed by Ford in Cologne, Germany. The only things made by Mazda in Rangers are the manual transmissions and I believe the Duratec 4 cylinder were designed and/or made by Mazda. Everything else was designed and built by Ford.
This is a little bit belated, but thought I'd pass it on for future possibilities>>> I've been told by a Ford Trans Tech with over 50 yrs of experience that you DO NOT want to do a complete trans flush UNLESS the vehicle has had it done all its life. Just do the filter & fluid change and you will be good to go. I can personally tell you that I'd bought an 87 Silverado years ago and did the trans flush, then dropped the pan, it was filled with a handful of debris, cleaned it out, did the filter change, topped off the trans with new fluid, and lasted 50 miles before the trans went out.
