A few people around here aren't so sure that is what happened.

No, they are thinking operator error when filling the bag.

Operator error filling the bag will cause them to split?

I was told there is a roller that can pinch the bag when it is being filled. This causes a crease that can split if conditions are right.

I have heard they are about a $1000.00 a piece. They hold 10,000 bushels

Are there different sizes of bags or just the 10,000 bushel size? Doesn`t sound like a cheap system, what is bagger and extractor are worth.

I believe they are all the same size, but if you don't fill it in one field you can continue using it in the next so there is no waste. The filler and extractor are about 25 grand each so not cheap but they do have there advantages such as storing damp grain. Because they are airtight the damp grain will not spoil like being stored in a regular bin. Also for guys who rent a lot of land they are a cheaper option then buying bins.

Too bad they are so vulnerable to wild life. My renters truck all the grain to their bins.

A lot of guys that rent around here don't want to buy bins for rented land.

I don`t blame them, farming can go upside down pretty quick.
