Fog lights

I picked up a set of factory fog lights and the wiring harness for my 04 that didn't have them. I've already replaced the dash switch. I just have a quick question about installing them. Is it necessary to remove the front bumper to install them or has anyone successfully installed them some other way?

If you take the housings off the brackets, you can install the brackets first and then finess the housings either up from under the bumper or through the lower opening. If you do the opening, I'd suggest taping over the lenses first as the housings are a smidgen too big for the opening and will drag the lense.

Throw some 9005 bulbs in them too, direct fit and 55w. Been running them in mine for years with no issues, no harness melting, no blinding oncoming traffic, etc. They make a HUGE difference in light in front of the rig, even on my lifted one.

Thanks, Matt

I'll give that a shot when I get a warm day.

If you decide to remove the bumper, all it takes is four bolts and it's off.

For the fog lights I can get by loosening the tow hook bolts (holding by a few threads), removing the bolts in the side brackets and allowing the bumper to rest (gingerly) on the tow hooks.

How heavy

How heavy is the bumper if I decide to take it off? Is it a two person job?

Not bad

That sounds doable. Thanks.

Only part that's easier with two is reinstall and getting it flush with the grill and headlights. No real side to side due to the wheel well brackets needing to be outside the tangs.

Definitely doable solo, just multiple trips back and forth snugging everything up. I've had mine off and on solo several times.

As a side note: I ordered a set of these:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Not worth the money, they do change the color but seat of pants measurement says the standard bulbs were brighter.

I was able to remove the license plate bracket and swap the bulbs without removing the bumper. But that was just the bulbs, I didn't have to do anything with the fog mounting brackets.

I then flipped the plate bracket upside down and drilled new holes to mount it, thinking at some point I'd put in one of the LED bars there.
