Got a quick question about some work I wanna do on my truck. I have a 2002 F250 7.3 with a few go "fast" parts. Has 6'' lift and 37'' tires. Open up front and has the LSD in the rear that's worn out. Would like to add a selectable locker.
Been searching the web and it seems Ford started adding them as an option for the 2011 year and up. Can find a few that came out of 6.2L gas engine trucks.
Are these axles the same strength as the diesel axles? I have some fab skills so relocating mounts and perches won't be a problem. Also same wheel pattern?
The '05+ axles are a few inches wider than the prior years, so it will make your wheels stick out a couple inches, but..
The '05+ axles also have bigger brakes, which require 17" minimum wheels, so if you have stock 16" stock wheels they won't fit. The stock e-locker UNlocks at 35 mph.
So, you are probably better off getting a new locking diff for your rear axle and if you want an air locker up front, for occasional use.
Basically all the axles are the same D60 up front. Ford 10.5 rear....Few changes in 05..
You might wanna change your gears? Also throw a detroit in the rear and never look back..esp if you like to have fun.

Hey do you know if it unlocks because of the rpm's or is it controlled by the ECU? I plan on a homemade wiring kit for it so not worried about it unlocking because of a computer.
