It was okay. I am officially in the market for a newer truck. Had an oil change and transmission service done this morning. My garage gave it a once over because I wanted to know where it stood. It s going to need repairs that will cost more than it is worth to pass inspection in July. So I am going to drive it until it dies or the inspection runs out.

Where I am we don't get called in for inspections unless you are commercial but I think southern Ontario vehicles are called more often. I have a 99 Chev half tone with only 156,000 km's on it but the body is starting to show signs of deterioration and if anything major were to go on it , it would become a parts vehicle..

Here is the repair list.....
Lower ball joints on each side
Driver's side half shaft (torn boot)
Rear shocks are blown
Passenger side rear shackle is rotted out
Transmission line leaking
Transmission dipstick tube rotted
Power steering line leaking
Gas tank strap mount rotted out
EVAP code
Both up and down stream O2 sensors are throwing a code. Unfettered air possibly due to the passenger side y pipe where it meets the exhaust manifold leaking. Could also have air leaking in from dry over side exhaust manifold.
I think that covers the mechanical side....lol. The bed is shot along with the outer rockers on both sides.
So as you can see, it is not worth fixing.

I can understand. Here we have annual safety and emissions testing done.

There is an advantage of living where no politician wants to visit...lol

True, but it is nice to have the inspections because it does get the junk off the roads...lol. The emissions came about due to the acid rain that we ended up with due to the coal plants in the Midwest.

Sudbury created a lot of acid rain too, the road salt here is the killer. I used to try and get as many years out of a car that I used for commuting to work, 10 years was about the best you could get and log 400,000 KM's . You could poke holes on the bottom with your fingers in many places
