2015 fuel filter issue

Hi All,

So I changed my fuel filter today and everything went as planned. I replaced it with a Ford OEM filters. I drained the filter housing under the truck by turning the yellow **** 1/4 turn. I then used a wrench and changed the filter. I put the new gasket on there and and tightened back down until it mechanically stopped. I then changed the one under the hood. I then did the bleed procedure 10 times and the truck fired right up.

Now for the reason with the post. I am getting a humming noise from the lower filter. I can find the issue. The yellow **** if fully seated closed and the housing is tightened as far as it can go. Under the hood, both lines are snug and on there properly. I can't figure out what is causing the humming.

The truck fires right up and the noise seems to go away, but
I get the humming noise each time I turn the key on. I know something isn't right. I drove the truck around the block and didn't get any codes, but I have to drive it tomorrow and I don't want to risk damage to the truck.Thoughts on things I should try?

Start by making sure your DFCM fuel filter housing is completely closed until it hits the positive stop.

I can tell you that it took me a couple of days for all of the air to get out of the system.

js139. You could always pull it and see... If the truck runs and starts fine, I don't think it's broken/cracked... Typically, it won't run and you will be dripping fuel out on the floor if it is.

it starts and runs fine. I just know the noise isn't normal and I don't want to damage anything.

From what I read, with that noise, it'll go into limp mode after a few minutes and throw low pressure codes

Since I have no idea exactly what the noise is, It's hard to say. I just know mine started up right away and made a weird noise for the first few days after my fuel filters were changed... Occasionally, I get a "whine", but it goes away. The occasional whine was there on the factory put filters too though.

IF you are that worried, pull the housing out again, check everything, look at the housing really good. If no cracks, put it back and see... Possible that the new o-ring got pinched when you put it back. It happens to the best of us. Especially if you don't lube it with fuel. That part I hate, because you get to smell like diesel fuel.

i pulled the housing twice and I didn't notice any cracks. I'm positive the o ring is on fine. Maybe I'll drive it and see how it goes.

This is the noise I'm getting, though I'm not getting it when the truck is running.

Did you check the drain? Not unheard of for the o-rings on that to have a problem.

I checked it to make sure it was tight. I didn't check the o ring. I didn't see anything on that. Are the o rings cracking or what should I look for? The yellow valve was super tight. Clearly the dealer didn't do these when I bought the truck.

Ok, I just checked the o rings on the yellow drain. All three are in place correctly. When I re-purged, I'm still getting the noise. However, when I start the truck, I don't get the noise.

Am am I being over paranoid about this? No signs of cracked anything. Everything is tight. All o rings are seated. All hoses properly clipped. I hate knowing how much these fuel systems cost to get worked on cause maybe I'm over thinking on this.

js139 - I live in Anchorage too. If you want to meet up, I am happy to compare noises with you. Understand why you are paranoid. I was too after I changed the fuel filters...
