Box Lighting

It seems like a small thing, but looking over my DORA (my dealer shared it with me 2 days ago) it looks like they missed 2 things, the engine block heater and the box lighting. My truck is is scheduled for build the first week in February, so I know it's too late to add these items to the build list. I've read on the forum that the heater plug is installed in all trucks, but I'll need it as we're moving to Colorado this year. The box lighting seems like a small thing, but is something I really wanted and will be really handy as I'm putting a Leer 100XQ topper on the truck. Is the bed lighting a pain to install after I receive the truck? I'm getting a silver with black interior F350 CC LB 6.7 4wd FX4 Platinum. Is it possible the folks on the line will install the bed lighting by default?

I'm really excited about this SD - it's not only my first super duty, but also my first diesel!

Thanks,
David

Incredibly, box lighting is not included on the platinum with its ultimate package, its a separate option you have to select. On Lariats its included with the ultimate package.

If you told your dealer you wanted these options, you call them, and make them order a new truck. Sure, you will have to wait longer, but you will have the options you asked for.

Not sure I'd reorder just for box lighting, so far I have used mine...never.

I have a tonneau cover on mine, use the box lighting often. I am using my truck everyday in the dark, morning and night, it's handy and when covered it's dark all the way back. I would make the dealer order it, and if they can't, they can order the parts now to install before they deliver to you! You don't receive the vehicle until you inspect and are happy.

I didn't order the block heater and looked, it's just a Allen wrench plug screwed in. I think they used to include the heater (less the cord) on earlier years but it doesn't look like the case now.

Really? I LOVE mine on my f150. I use it basically every time I use the truck at night.

The bed lighting is nice! I also have a tonneau and it lights things up nice under there. If it came down to it, there are aftermarket lights available from extang and access I believe. Not ideal, but if for some reason your order does not have them it may be an easy solution to not delaying your truck delivery.

Also, if it's on your order make sure they route the block heater cord and assemble during dealer prep. It will be a good thing to have in Co!

Its easy for the dealer to add the lighting after the fact. Not sure on the block heater. My cousin added it to his f150.
