Spare Tire Space

Will be relocating spare tire to the rear bumper. (315's don't fit inside) Was wondering if anyone has done anything with the cutout that is left inside. Was thinking there must be a way to use as really cool storage. Looking for ideas.

Thanks

A cool idea would be to fabricate a box the same shape as the stock spare and use the stock spare tire cover to have a semi-secret storage area. I can't image a thief would put two and two together, if they were that smart they wouldn't be a thief.

Big Green has an excellent idea, but a 315 will fit in the stock spare location.

You know I tried to get it to fit, but it just would not set properly. Making the angle to tighten way odd.

Did you remove the small filler piece at the bottom? A 35" should fit, it will be very tight to the third seat, but it should fit.

Duh, Will try that when I get home. Still thinking about moving it to the rear bumper. I like the idea of putting something in that space.

You could also let some air out to fit in better. :-)

An airpump would be handy, but in 40 yrs I have had 1 flat on the road. Several in a parking lot, but that is what AAA is for.

Live in Alaska. Sometimes nearest tow truck could be 100 to 200 miles away depending were I am at. Having a spare is a must. I do have an on board air compressor, so a another good idea. Thanks

My 315 fit... Tread pattern might be messing with you but I can't imagine it being that much.

Yeah, Going to remove the spacer when I get home that probably will work. Still would like to hear any more ideals for the space. Thanks

If you put it on the bumper how easy will access be to the hatch or barn doors? I would make it fit inside even if I had to let the air out of it and carry an air source. (Hoping you would never have to use it)

I need to find another use for mine....a few weeks ago there was a stranded F250 with a blow out. The guy didnt have anything at all, no tools or spare. I had a place I had to be so I got his info amd left him my spare, jack, and tire iron. We were going to meet up once he got the truck fixed. I cant get him to return my calls or text now.

That sucks. I have an extra steel rim just sitting in my garage I would give you if you're nearby, but I see you're on the East coast. I replaced my spare with a stock aluminum alloy rim like all my other wheels. Much lighter than the steel rim.
