Door Glass

Is the right and left door glass the same in these trucks? My left side is broken and I found a right side in a junkyard. A catalog I have lists one part number with two required. Just want to double check before I go take it out.

Thanks,

Dave

The glass is the same but, if memory serves, the steel channel on the bottom is not and it will often not come off as it is intended to.

Good point. I can use my original channel since the glass is broken, and if I ruin the other channel it's OK as long as the glass is good.

Where are you located?
I have a space passenger side door, and I'd let you have the glass out of it if u can't get one

Thanks for the offer Andy. I have found one in a local junkyard, but haven't gotten it yet. The next trick will be how to press the new glass into the channel. I tried to get the broken glass out of it's channel, wow, what a job. I saw a picture in a shop manual of a clamp / press kind of tool to press it in, is there any other way?

widen the channel so the glass fits in there and clamp it back down with a bench vise? Make sure the rubber is still in there - the glass won't like being up against the channel directly.

I'm betting the real trick is getting the channel off the good one without breaking the glass as Eric states... maybe use something like a cut-off wheel on a Dremel tool and cut it off? I wouldn't try and pry it off.

I've seen the picture, but never the tool. I broke a good window trying to get that steel thing off, learned my lesson and bought the window ready to go in. I think a complete window assembly's the best way to go, but if you've scored the rare tinted glass, you might try a glass shop for help.

I would just take the channel and the replacement to the glass shop and pay a few bucks for piece of mind.
