So I was wondering what type of MPG everyone else here was getting with their trucks, and please also give some specs and info on your truck so we can compare and get a good idea on which trucks are in the same general category. I have a 79 F250 4x4, 300 I6 with a 4 speed and just had it rebuilt and upgraded and am wondering what type of MPG I should be expecting. I was expecting to get about the same as I got before which was about 15. But so far it's no where near that. Please post your MPG and truck info.
I have two dents. A 76 2wd 300 6. 410 I think gears 31" tires t18 4 speed. Engine all stock except for electric fans and a k&n air filter it gets around 17mpg. My other is a 73 2wd 390 Holley 770 cfm carb. Headers dual 2.5" exhaust. 410 I think gears. 33 12.5 16.5" tires on the back.It seems like it gets gallons per mile. But it gets around 7mpg
I really have no idea. 79f3504x4 with400 auto and 410 gears, riding on 315/75/16s. I would like to think about 11 to 12 mpg, if I don,t have my foot in it.
1977 F100, 5.0 3 on the tree 2 wheel drive, drove 148 miles on 8 gallons
came up with 18.5 freeway
of course I just rebuilt the motor in 2015,
and gave her a tune up before the trip
79 f150 4x4 with 35s. Believe it's 4.10 heard and a np435 trans. I got a 302 with a lopey cam. I got 11-13 with a 600 edelbrock and 9-11 with a 650 edelbrock thunder series.
78 F-250 4x4 with 4:10 gears 4 speed MT and 285/75/16 tires, no modifications, just tuned up 13 MPG highway, 10 MPG towing #2700 race car spare tools and tires on open trailer.. I was pleasantly surprised.
thanks guys, I was hoping I could be a bit closer to 14,15 but the motor is new. Still only has 800 miles on it since the rebuild and upgrade so it might take a bit but was just curious if I should start looking at swapping out the carb to something smaller. Also, just put on new tires, BF Goodrich 235/85/R16
While we're at it, we might as well speculate as to why we get mileage figures like these. The most obvious factor is that our trucks have the aerodynamics of a barn door. But, surely, there's more to it than just that.
