AOD to C6

Well at least cable kickdown is easy to deal with. Any thoughts on why the valve bodies would be different from a '82 to a '88??? I cannot think of one at all. The rebuild kits for the C6 are the same from '76 up through when they quit using them. The guy at the salvage yard said that the valve bodies are different on the '82 to the '88 style. Ford said that the valve bodies have different part numbers but could not tell me if there was any actual difference between the two. Any thoughts???

daerhldgs2, thanks for the reply. I did some further reading on the E40D last night and found that it would be more prone to problems than the C6. I bought a professionally built C6 on Ebay for $375.00. Now I'll find out what cable Ford used for the kickdown on the EFI models.

There goes your speedometer. The E4OD has a electronic speedometer sensor (wire) while the C6 uses a cable and gear. I think somebody makes a conversion kit but it is cashy.

no problems with the speedo , you have a AOD not an E4OD so the speedo stays put on your trsfr case. I'm going to reconvert my 91 to C6 asap as I'm having nothing but trouble with the AOD that I have , I'll just have to rev higher or go slower on the highway.

My speed sensor is in the rear axle. I also used a tranny harness from a 95 F250/C6 truck.

AOD to C6

Hey guys,
I have a 82 f150 4x4 351w and C6 trans. I know the AOD isnt that great of a trans, but I want to switch to it from the C6 that I have(most of the mileage is on the road). I dont't want to spend the money on gearing changes. From what I see, it's pretty much a straight over conversion. My question is this: Do I have to change the torque converter from the C6 or can I use it on the AOD?

Once again I go to the best to find the Best!
Thanks for the help hopefully!
Larry

I don't know if you can but you shouldn't as the AOD has a lock-up converter which is more efficient in 3rd and O/D

Lightbulb AOD to C6

Hello daerhldgs2,
I didn't even think about that! I knew the AOD was a lockup. Thanks for the reminder.
Have a good one!

AODE to C6

If anyone is interested, I will have all the Ford part numbers for the conversion from an AODE to C6 in a 94 F 150 in the next couple days. I went to the dealer and ordered everything for the manual shift cable and the kickdown cable. All the brackets, Neutral safety switch, and cables. I will post all of it when I get the C6 installed so I won't leave out anything. I also will give the prices too. So far it cost me around $400.00 including the dipstick and tube.

daerhldgs2, do you know if the torque converter for the C6 will bolt up tp the flexplate from the AODE. That's the only thing I haven't ordered yet. If you don't know I will wait until I get the AODE out to check it. Thanks for any help.

I got lucky. I bought the whole truck I pulled the tranny from for $400.
I think my E4OD flexplate was the same as the C6.
