I thought the EL's had some sort of self leveling system in the back, but don't really know. I think tow ratings are all overstated, none of the SUV's/pickups we drive are semis. 8k probably really means 6k safely, which would be not quite enough for me. Looks like a nice machine though, and they have great interiors.

Not all of the Expedition EL's have self leveling rear suspension, however I agree there is a load limit and a safe load limit when towing!

I have one of each.

The wife drives the Expy, and the mighty X is now on vacation duty or hunting rig duty only.

Sits most of the year, as I have a company truck for the daily to work driver.

You should have replaced the factory unit heaters with the carbon fiber heaters.

I put in a set in my cloth seats and couldn't be happier.

Can cut the heaters to the size of the seat/ back and not worry about the burn in or shorting out.

Been working great now for 4 years.

I see the value in both vehicles as we now have one of each as well as a Mountaineer sitting in the middle until it sells. Our friends think we are crazy for having all these 3 row SUV's and only two kids. I agree with them. But I like these machines!
