May make the switch back to an Expedition EL
I wanted to take the time to tell you all thank you first of all! The help on here is very much appreciated! If anyone has looked at any of my other posts I have jumped around in a few different vehicles in the last two years, in what I believe is a search for the perfect vehicle. I know that isn't probably possible, but no I am considering going back to an Expedition EL like my previous 08' but two years newer in a 10' Limited . I thought getting an Excursion I would like it better, but I find myself trying to make it an Expy. My reasons: better ride and less cabin noise, fold flat seats, independent rear suspension, comfortable cabin, and family likes it better. I know some may argue it's no comparison because of the Superduty to 1/2 ton chassis but these are my reasons. I know I won't have the towing capacity or diesel power, but frankly I don't need it , the diesel is more for a cool factor. I averaged 15.6 mpgs with my 08' Expy EL and now get 15.5 average out of my 7.3 diesel EX so mileage is about the same except gas is a little cheaper. Other reason I have been considering the switch is the price is do rust repair $2000-2500, new springs $1000, new shocks $400, new sway bar links, fix driver's and passenger seat heat elements and new driver's seat covers $450. These prices would make the Excursion back to what I would be satisfied with but I have trouble justifying sticking that much into it. Regardless I like both vehicles but like the Expedition EL better right now. Either way I appreciate all responses on my posts and messages and after Saturday when I look at another Expy EL I'll either be back on here doing mods or right next door in the Expy forum.
Thanks all

I get it too, everyone has their own needs and wants. I pretty much only use my EX for towing these days with very few solo drives. I wouldn't mind driving it every day but I NEED it to last until retirement (6 to 8 years) so I leave it parked to save the wear and tear and keep it out of the salt.
Good luck with the Expy!

Well I agree you need to do what suits you...but that 7.3 is going to outlast that Exp any day. You really need to fix your seat warmers? I mean as long as the rig has heat is about all I would be concerned with. Suppose if your in cold climate and you have Leather which is cold in winter and very hot in the summer you need it.
Sorry to see you go but hopefully someone buys that 7.3 and comes on here bragging about how he got it for a great deal!!! LOL

Irish19614x4 I think with proper maintenance a overhead cam motor can last just as long as a 7.3. one example is a guy I work with has a neighbor that bought an 06' E150 van with a 2V 5.4 new and maintenanced it as recommended and it now has 1,000,000 miles, and no I didn't type that wrong or did you read wrong. I understand this isnt an everyday occasion but I don't believe a 7.3 with that many miles is either. They both have their pitfalls don't get me wrong . I just think it depends on how it's treated and maintained.

Daewoo will do! I am definitely going to look it over well, because it makes no sense to go from one with rust to another and spend more money! I will let everyone know how it goes and I took a lot of measurements of my EX so I can give an accurate comparison of space ,height, and width to the Expedition EL.

That's exactly what our Expedition towed. With our crew we were limited by payload. Bought a 6000# GTWR trailer but was still too much. Towed just okay but rear sag was bad.
