How are the new quad beam halogens compared to the previous gen lighting? Reason I ask is because it seems everyone immediately wants the LEDs with not much positive said about the quads.
Literally, night vs day. I had 5 previous gen trucks and the stock headlights were always my #1 complaint. I can't speak for the current halogen lights, but the LED lights are noticeably better than the previous trucks I owned.
The halogen quad beam is better than any halogen I've ever had. They are bright on dim. My only complaint is that there isn't a whole lot of difference between dim and brights in distance they reach out to in the night. Maybe that is just due to how well the dims actually work.
The halogens are good lights, everyone wants the LED because it's different and new. The LED lights were given a not-so-great rating by IIHS. They actually rated the F150 LEDs, which are the same light modules used in the 2017 SD housing.
Someone stated that Ford claims the 2017 halogens put out more light on low beam than the previous generation put out on high beam. That makes sense and is pretty intuitive when you consider that there are 4 bulbs pumping out lumens on low beam, rather than just 2 bulbs for the 2016.
It's the perfect time of year to take a headlight test drive. It gets dark before the dealerships close, so I'd definitely recommend going for a test spin. That way, you can see for yourself.
just picked up my sc srw lariat 1-ton tonight... Wanted LED's but not available on SC. I am impressed with the halogens, they are excellent and the auto brights feature works extremely well too. Now I don't miss the LED's one iota.
I was concerned if the Sync3 stereo had the subwoofer of the CC or might disappoint, not, it rocks. Also a bummer you can't get keyless start or the damped tailgate on a SC. Marketing sucks... that said, AWESOME truck.
Extremely pleased.

I agree... The brights are less than impressive. I have the halogen and I'll just live with them.

The IIHS rating doesn't apply to the 17 Super Duty. It's hard to believe they are the same light modules as the F150. Whatever they did different in the Super Duty, it is absolutely amazing with the LED's. The lows are spectacular and the high beams are like nothing I've ever seen.
