You can buy a $10 strap wrench from a tool shop or Home Depot, etc. and it should come off easily. If it is really stuck, you can hammer a screwdriver thru the filter and twist it off. The second choice is the cheaper route but not the cleanest. Besides, I'm sure you will use the tool more than once. If you opt for the tool, don't get the fitted filter wrench. It only fits one size filter and then you have nutin when you sell the car.
PS what's up with ford offering 2 different size oil filters for the 1996 model year. 3/4" and 22mm. Now I have to crawl under my truck to see what I have.
