I've got a L6 240 in my truck right now. It's kinda junked past the point of fixation. I would like to do an engine swap. I would Perfer to put a V8 in if possible. Maybe a 302. Is that a good idea and if i do it what changes would need to be made? any ideas welcome. Please help me.
You might be disappointed in the lack of low-end torque a 302 produces. A 300ci 6-cylinder is a bolt-in replacement and aftermarket hop-up parts are available. If you are set on a V8 swap, find a donor truck and take everything.
what kind and year of truck is it
my brother had an 80 bronco the came with a 6(dont remember what size) but when he sold it there was a 400 big block in it. the truck should take the 302 with no problems but you may need a diferent trany. i dont know what your 240 is bolted up to.
just consider the difrence in weight on your front end
personly id go with the 302 but thats just me.
