transmissions issues
First let me say go easy on me I'm a newbie
I own a 98 windstarwith 60500 miles and recently my transmission slipped from 3rd to 2nd
As you might have imagined I was suprised but to follow that up the next day, my windstar would't go into 3rd.
To make a long story short I being told by various mechanics that this is a common problem with this vehicle. And that Ford knows that this particular transmissions is bad for this vehicle.... and they have a upgrade fix for this unit, but the transmissions usually last about 60000 miles;( right outside my warranty. My real question that has me baffled is shouldn't I get a check engine code if my transmission fails to go into gear? All I have gotten is a code (p1450) for loss or low air pressure and that has been reset so many times I have given up on trying to figure this issue out. Any comments welcomed as well as suggestions.
