75 seat belts

I ve got a 75 supercab. One of my neighbors across the alley bought the other neighbors 76 supercab that has been rotting into the ground. There are 4 supercab dents within 3 blocks of my house counting mine! At any rate when i got home from work neighbor 2 (the buyer) was messing with it trying to get it to run so he could move it. while poking around the truck cataloging all the stuff i want if he parts it out like he said he might i noticed that it had over the shoulder 3 point seat belts with the top point fastend in a place where there is a blank out bung on my truck. Is there a tapped mount plate behing the blank bung? It would be nice to update my belts seeing as i plan on re gearing the truck for 75-80 cruising speed.

If I recall correctly, factory shoulder belt retractors mounted high on the B pillar (door jamb) in fit into a recess rather than sitting on the surface. If by plug or bung you mean the two body color plugs in the C pillar (behind the side window), those cover nuts that hold the exterior window trim on.

Check out my thread here.

That's how my aftermarket belts are installed. It's the factory ones that have the retractor at the top.

1973/75 Regular/Crew Cabs & 1974/75 Super Cabs: Lap seat belts were standard equipment, shoulder straps were optional.

1976/79 Super Cabs: Shoulder belts were standard equipment.

Pic showing optional shoulder straps. Notice the lap belts have two buckles, one for the tongue of the lap belt, one for the tongue of the shoulder strap.

Looks like I stand corrected, at least for the Super Cab. I swear I've seen retractors mounted high in the B pillar but clearly I'm wrong as far as that Super Cab is concerned.

Although the idea of going with factory belts is good from a fit and finish standpoint, do remember the belts are very old and may fail when you need them most. The belts I installed were less than $70 each.
