inline six identification?????????

how can you visually tell the difference in the 240 i6 and the 300 i6? i went and looked at an engine this evening and dont know which of the two it is. the guy hat has it does not either. he doesnt know what it came out of. i got the numbers off the side of the block. will this help..........here go the numbers: c6ae6015d
is this a 240 or a 300? someone PLEASE help me

inline six identification?????????

The block casting number indicates that this is a 240. But do you know if it has been rebuilt. The reason I bring this up is cause a 300 crank and rods will fit into a 240 block. If you are unsure and the motor is out of the vehicle the easiest way to tell is to take off the oil pan and look at the crank casting number. If it is 1la then it is a 240 if any other number its a 300.
