2017 Plans for your Excursion

I got the idea from this thread, https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...l#post15909858 when Sean bumped it to the top.

I figure we can do this every year, and at the end of the year we can revisit the thread to see how close we came to the modding/repairing/upgrading we wanted to do to our Excursions.

I need to fix/replace:
  • Replace the antenna
  • Fix the drivers side second row grab handle
  • Fix the lock rod for the barn door (need to do a new thread on that)
  • Inspect and replace bushings
  • Upgrade the radio and speakers
  • Address the sticking door lock actuators....again
  • Some minor rust repair

Lightbulb Short list

Ordered pieces 5 and 6

At some point I'll be ordering something like this also.

Currently the truck is running so well I don't want to add any more "go fast" parts.

Door seal mod and new BFG All Terrain tires.

Hopefully that will be it for 2017. I spent a lot of $ last year.

A COP upgrade and new plugs

A set of new disc brake rotors, pads and ss brake lines.

Maybe upgrade to a set of 18" wheels off a 2004... not sure which ones yet.

Eventually I do want to install a Nav system, but that's way down the list. Maybe next year (2018)

New tires, done already.

5 star tuner.

Hoping that is all, aside from basic maintenance. 2016 was a good $$$ year for the EX.

- 20,000 lbs Torklift Receiver to replace the one that got rear ended
- Install my battery tender that I already bought along with the USB outlets I ordered
- New leaf springs from ATS once we get the tax return
- Go camping at least once a month once the new receiver is installed
- New rotors and pads (researching whether or not to go aftermarket upgrade)
- Save and plan for summer trip for 2018 towing trailer to Disneyland and coming back hitting the national parks along the way.
- Already replaced the tires a couple weeks ago. 2017 though.

I gotta figure out where some creaks and moans are coming from, maybe body mounts or spring bushings. And see why my reverse camera doesn't work when my lights are on.

Maybe get rid of the cladding since some of it is faded and peeling off.

I'll break my 2017 EX list into 3 groups:

* Plan to get done.
Torklift SuperHitch 20K (done in'16 with write up coming soon).
Air bags
Stainless braided brake hoses
Trans flush / 6.0 cooler / ATF filter.
Get a matching spare tire to mount on the fifth Lariat wheel.

* Hope to get done.
F-650 dash completed.
Additional gauges /110 VAC outlets / 12 VDC ports /USB ports added.
Front and rear aux LED lighting.

* Would like to get done.
Onboard air system.
Front 4.88 axle swapped in.

Biggest obstacle to getting things moved up the list and getting them done is that there are 7 other vehicles here all with their own wish lists, that stretches both my time and budget pretty tight.

We have plans to spend about 36 nights in the TT this year, it would be more but we are planning a 17 day trip to the U.K.
I plan to start off by getting some TT mods knocked out first (before March 10th):
New tires.
New wheels, have them but need tires yet.
New hubs/brake drums, have them but need tires to be able to install them.
New Bearings and seals, have them, see above, I really need to get those tires!
New heavy duty shackles with bronze bushings and wet bolts, have them.

* After the March trip:
Additional suspension bracing.
Build and install a shock kit.
Add additional set of scissor style stabilizer jacks by suspension., have them.
LED light conversion.
Additional LED lighting.
Build rear cargo platform.
Build rear receiver style trailer hitch for bike racks.

I can't wait until this time next year to revisit this list and make a list of all the stuff I didn't get done in '16 OR '17.
