Between 1700 and 2200 or so, I get a real bogged feeling, Kinda lilke there is a problem, But there "isnt"
I know i have enough air coming in...And i know i have enough going out. No vacuum leaks, New Fuel Filter, New K&N kit, New exhaust, Piping, and cat work....blah blah blah
Well, I was looking around on an Explorer 4x4 site today, and they had a tip on cleaning the maf sensor filaments on the maf. If mine is dirty, would this cause poor acceleration, Or lag from the time i got on it, Till i noticed it?
They said to use a TB safe cleaner, Same as on the tb...
it could be dirty but it would cause more problems in more areas. I would check your plugs to see if any are fouled or need replaceing, also check cap, rotor and wires to. Also check your timing it may cause this to. what kind of exhaust work did you have done.
Being a member of Explorer4x4 I got the same tip from the site for my X. It took care of the rough idle and crappy acceleration. My X had 200+K miles on it so the filiment in the MAF was pretty dirty. I wanted to try the same trick on my Bronco but one of the security screws was filled with what looked like epoxy so I got frusterated trying to loosen it and gave up. I would recommend trying it if you can get the thing free. Spray the 2 filaments with carb cleaner, rub GENTLY with a Q-tip, and then let the rest of the cleaner evaporate. Good luck!
I had the 2nd cat cut off as it is not needed in florida with no emissions, And with 140K miles, It wasnt doing anything but stealing power. From the outlet of the first cat, 2.5 inch stainless pipe into a flowmater delta 40 single in / duel out. I would have run true duals, But to get them RIGHT, it is a PITA. Besdies true duels may sound better, But for a truck that doesnt see below 4500rpms, They are needed.
From the flowmaster outlets, 2.5 inch Stainless to 2 - 3.5 inch tips coming out behind the rear tires on a 45.
