Canopys?

Canopys?
So I am thinking about adding a canopy for my truck.
I am wondering from those that have them which ones do you prefer.
I want it to be waterproof as much as possible.
I am looking at a couple different ones. So far its the Leer 180 and the MX from ARE.
180
MX Series Truck Caps : A.R.E. Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers
180XL
Hope those links work.
Just looking for any insight and what I should be looking for when I purchase one. Also right now the MX was quoted at $1795.00 Then they want $85 an hour to install.

$85 a hour to install? Two guys and a case of beer and your in business.
Nice canopy but if your not picky I would recommend trying your local CL you be surprised the ones you find people are selling. Of course you would need to find one that matches your truck or just repaint it.
I bought one for my truck although sold it when I got my 5th wheel and now both are gone . Any ways I got mine from a guy in upstate N.Y. He had it in his back yard so the only thing I replaced on it was handles as they were rotted out. Ended up selling it to someone in California nearly 6 months later for more than what I paid. Think I originally paid $300.
Just a thought but I can totally understand wanting brand new

I too would buy used. You just need to be patient until the right one comes up. I have the LEER 100 series (cab height model) with front and side windows/screens. I too would go for the slightly taller one if I hadn't bought the truck used with the bed cap included.
I found the front gasket leaked on the LEER. Simple fix ... just need another piece of rubber weather stripping along the front edge where the cap sits on the bed edge. I wouldn't buy their replacement part ... too expensive. I used an old inner tube and cut it to size. Worked well.
Overall I'm happy with the LEER. Regardless of what you end up with, lubricate the rear lock/handles. They'll work better in the winter if that's a factor wherever you live.

I bought the ARE MX for my 2015 super duty. I really like the quality & construction. Very well made & very good looking.
I am disappointed in a couple items, as explained to me by the dealer/installer AFTER my purchase when I complained about the fit, the MX is made a for a generic bed, the same one fits ford, cheby & Chrysler. The front is not water proof, the rear door/hatch does not fit the tail gate shape/contour very well. I was not expecting perfection & this fit is far from it. I used duct tape to seal the front edge to keep out water & made a short curtain to hang in back to keep water & dirt out of the back. I am very disappointed in my dealer/installer yet, to be fair, they didn't build it, they only sold it to me without disclosing the mediocre fit of this MX model. Now I am stuck with it & I do not do business with the dealer/installer or ARE.

I went new because my truck was a new color. My 2000 I went with a new ARE back in 2000. Was local and I liked it. This time I did a ton of research and came to this conclusion. All the main brands are fairly similar and of good quality. I went with the Century for the same reason as the ARE, the local guy in town carries Century that makes it convenient and he sells other items for trucks and you get a rapport with the shop. I feel it is as nice as my ARE was.

I've owned Toppers on every pickup I've owned with the exception of Dually's.
Ever topper has had frameless glass windows, carpeted headliners, keyless entry, yakima rack, etc.
From Snug Tops, ARE, Century, Glasstite and I'm sure theres others. Jason Toppers are my favorite. I like the rear frameless window, it's stout. The paint is always a dead on match, and the topper covers the Bed rails better than all the other toppers I've owned.
