changing ball joints

How hard is it to change ball joints in a '96 Ford 150 4X4??

Is there a manual I could access to read up on it?

Thanks!

I used the Hayes manual. It was a pretty straight forward job. I had to get 2 special tools. One is a tool to take the spindle nut off with (circular with 4 tabs on the end) and the other was a rental from AutoZone for $100 (Ball Joint Press). All in all, I had a good time replacing them, although I wouldn't want to do it on a regular basis. It took me around 4-5 hours to complete the job.

check my site for the Special spindle nut (bearing lock nut) socket needed for the 96 model 4x4 (and Bronco..same tool)..these are much different than earlier years..look in my Technical Sect. under "Hubs" for the Link.
