Very nice truck indeed. Quick question. May I ask why you went with the 450 instead of a 350 cclb 4wd dually? I know the price is similar but I just wouldn't want the worse ride quality. The 350 tows almost as much as the 450 but maybe you tow a lot very consistently and want a 450? Or is it just because of the wide track?
I really only use this for towing my 5er. I like the looks of the 19.5 wheels as well as the upgraded brakes, etc.
I test drove both and ordered the F450. #1 reason by far is the turning circle. If you draw a circle with a radius merely 3' larger than the F450 length, the truck can do 360s keeping its tires inside that circle! It's hard to appreciate how amazing this is unless you test drive one. It made it much easier to park (especially with the cool 360* camera), easier to move through crowded parking lots, and I'm sure it will help maneuvering my fifth wheel camper into sites.
#2 reason: The larger brakes and MUCH larger brake pads are a plus as well.
I've got to admit, seeing an F450 just makes me smile as well.
Good points. I'd kind of forgotten the larger brakes (made possible by the larger wheels) and the larger halfshafts (despite the same axle housing and rear differential).
The 350 was Ford's effort to shut RAM up about Class 3/4 trucks...basically, fine...let the 350 compete with RAM's top-rated truck. The 450 is hindered by its class rating, but that should bring that much more confidence to any owner.
