Found this from a local seller. He purchased his new truck and found his new one already had it. So now this is going on my truck finally. I already had banjo fuel bolts so I would think this will help?
Anyone with experience on installing this should I be looking for anything in particular when I do and assuming it's pretty straight forward with exception of small parts?
I knocked out mine pretty quick with no issues. Only thing I would say is when you're lining it back up with the spring in there, just be sure to evenly apply the pressure as you push the housing toward the bowl so you do not kink, bend, or shoot the spring out. And no need to go ape**** on the bolts because I've read of guys torquing too hard and breaking them.
The kit probably comes with the small o-ring seals. Be careful as you break free and remove the fuel line - there is a small o-ring between the two couplers, have your hand/fingers below for when it drops.
Looks far more intimidating than it is, very easy to accomplish in 20~30 minutes.
Also, as you pull the pigtail connector off of the EBP sensor, look for the yellow plastic pin alignment cage, just don't drop it.
And you probably won't be using each and every o-ring in the kit. Just use and replace the ones you can match up, chances are the kits are made for a lot of different applications but just easier for them to package it under one part number/kit.
Thanks guys, well I thought I got a good deal on the kit but finding out now it goes for what I paid $60. Although original owner paid $85 from BPD so I figured paying $60 was fair. All in all it's still a good deal I got it instantly instead of waiting for shipment.
So I know this is supposed to regulate the fuel pressure to what it should have been but would I be likely to even notice a difference. Or basically this is an internal upgrade and the only way to truly tell any difference would be fuel pressure gauge installed?
As I said I do have the banjo fuel bolts instead instead of stock 6.0 ones so with these two combined hoping it makes a difference of some kind even if I can't tell personally.
You'd need a gauge to tell and the idea is to not let it drop below 50psi as 45psi is the lower limit on injectors. Banjo bolt won't make any difference, the flow rate is minimal.
Okay well those bolts didn't cost really much several months ago just did it for peace of mind.. So so if they didn't make a difference much and still won't oh well.
Overall I resd many things about this kit good and bad so hopefully it just serves a good purpose and does not end up bad. I also believe those who had issues likely had issues prior to the upgrade.
On the 6.4 banjos, I don't see any upside. Folks thought they would flow more and maybe they do if you have big enough injectors. The 6.0 and 6.4 are completely different fuel systems and the check valve in the stock 6.0's banjos are supposed to dampen fuel pulses, as I understand it, as our fuel system runs at low pressure relative to a 6.4's, and it is the high pressure oil that fires the injector to make a high pressure fuel pulse. The check valves were put in there for a reason...
I'd do the blue spring regardless of whether you check fuel pressure before or after. It is a Ford updated part for our engines. The 6.4 banjos are not...
Another way to do the bluespring is to take off the fuel hard line hold-down on the head. You don't have to break the fuel line nut at the cover that way...
My $.02
Hey if you want a neat upgrade from the 6.4s, get their trans pan and internal trans filter -- now that is a worthwhile upgrade for a bit over a hundred bucks...
I noticed a little more oomph down low right off idle after the blue spring upgrade. Even if you don't notice any difference after the swap X2 on the fact that it's an upgrade that should be done to every 6.0 out there.
It prevents the fuel pressure from dropping below 45psi during WOT runs... I'd rather spend $60 on a spring than $2000 on injectors because I didn't believe someone that said I didn't need that stuff... after Ford even said, you should do this upgrade.
Okay all great news except maybe the banjo bolts I put on my truck for 6.4. Should I remove them and go back stock or has anyone ever done any damage with them?
I'll be installing the kit Saturday! Getting my 2015 front bumper and rear bumper tomorrow as well. Let the parts come in for the front end make over!!!
Your a DDG sailor, what rate? I been on both those ships, even rode both as I do the VMS stuff for the QMs. Love Everett and the fishing. I should be coming there soon, we should hoist a beer!
