Hello from Amarillo, Texas
I am a recently retired mechanic/technician. When I started they only had mechanics.
As a retirement gift I bought a 2014 F150 with the 5.0 coyote engine and loved my truck until I got the oil changed and got the tick in my engine and that is when I found this forum. There is a lot on the internet but this forum had tons of knowledgeable people and connections to the factory with good advice. I took it to my dealer with a video of the knock so they could hear what it was doing in case they couldn't duplicate it. They got it up to operating temperature and told me that it sounded good for a diesel. They replaced the tensioner's, idler pulley, then put a short block in, #4 cyl. scuffed. No one knows why but at least I got great service and the service writer and technician were top notch. By the way I still love my truck. It has been a long time since I have owned a Ford, my first two cars were mustangs, but I like the Ford better than anything out there as far as half ton trucks go.
Was the above work done in one visit or did they try the first two items, still had problem and oroceeded to phase 2?
My 2013 is starting 5th day in service at dealer.
I dropped off the truck to the dealer and the service writer called me with updates. The lady's name was Faith and she was one of the best service writers I have had. I did not get the truck back until the work was completed, about two and a half weeks if I remember correctly. I think you will be ok, the factory will tell the dealer what to try first then go from there, I think the chain and tensioners were a technical service bulletin but on the other hand you will get those new also.

Thank you very much.
