They should screen...
Last night it snowed about 3" but nothing stuck to the roads. In NC, it's a pretty big thing when it snows. When driving to work this morning, I ended up following a guy in a new Honda Pilot AWD. At every curve in the road, he stomped on the brakes and creeped thru the curve. After about 3 miles of this, I was getting furious. With nowhere to pass, I had to follow him.
What is the purpose of buying an AWD vehicle if your going to drive the thing like a bicycle?
On Tueday night, on my way home from work, I got stuck behind a car w/ Texas plates. Snow was coming down but not sticking to the road. I was going about 65 and had to slow down to 30 because this guy was scared. Every passing zone that came up he would straddle the lines so that no one could get by him.
I don't have a problem with people that want to be carefull, or they aren't sure about driving in snow, but the least they could do is move over and let others go by.
I would rather have to complain about an SUV owner driving too slow than have to hear another "SAVE ME FROM MYSELF!!!!!!" whiner preaching how SUV's should handle just like cars, that they are unsafe, and listen to the Transportation Secretary state that he wouldn't drive one.
If for anything, praise him for thinking about different characteristics of his vehicle. Sure he could be going faster, but you and I both know that at least 50% of all drivers out there have no real clue as to the proper operation of their own vehicle.
There are enitrely tooooooo many people out there that think everything should be designed and built for the idiot in mind.
Whatever happened to build it for it's purpose and learn how to operate it??????????????????????????????
Sorry to seem like I was jumping back at the issue, I've just heard about enough of the "SAVE ME FROM MYSELF" types lately, and will commend someone who will take their own responsibility and drive sanely in even the most minor of adverse weather.
Just my $.02
Dave
