Dead 6.7...x2

I jumped in one of the trucks and went and got lunch about a week before these oil changes. I'm certainly not a world-class mechanic, but as quiet as these trucks are I would have heard a knock. Then after this thread produced no other failures it made me question what the heck is going on.

I ran almost 150,000 miles on my 2011 truck with no engine problems, and I've driven a bunch of trucks bought at the auto auction with 150,000+ plus miles and none of them had had any serious problems.
Like the other posters above, I would think it extremely unlikely that both trucks would fail with in days of being serviced. And there is just not a history of 2013 engines failing in the low 100,000 mileage range

You know those oil pumping stations that you see in service departments. They usually have several types of oil and ATF and such. I would have liked to get back in their shop to see if they use one of those. The oil sample i took did appear to be a normal viscosity, but it's also blistering cold here so maybe I'm wrong

I have had oil changed at dealers all over the country. The techs all have had to go to parts and bring out the gallon or 5 quart containers of diesel oil - even the dealers with Quick Lube.
the 6.4 took 15 quarts, an easy 3 containers of 5 quarts each. The full synthetic 5-40 and dino 10-30 for diesels comes in 4 quart. Dealers do not seem to carry quarts. Since the 6.7, I am always getting back after service the left over two or three quarts in an opened container - unless I remember to bring in my last leftover oil.

I just find the timing of this whole thing rather strange! The 6.7 has been out for 7 years and by my search criteria, there have been no oil pump failures.
Now, with this being reported on the 2017's

Now There are two 2013's. Not saying the OP is wrong about what happened to his, but questions arise. Just wondering

Oil pump failures have happened but typically only on high HP applications.

One more. To the OP, I think that there was human failure here. Too much of a coincidence that they both dropped so close together.
