5.8L engine swap complete.....well, almost
Its getting late, so I wont do my extensive list of mods at the moment. But I suppose I had better answer the question that would leave 50 responses by morning if left unanswered. So you wana know about the power? Actually, in its present state it really doesn't have any to speak of. I am hoping that is largely due in part to no exhaust, but my guess is it will need some tuning. Out on the highway, I could run 60mph, but did not have any get up and go to speek, even the little bit my old 5.0 had. The cam lope is definately noticable no doubt. Actually, it has a hard time idling at present. If you start it and keep the revs up then gradually bring it down, it will idle OK, but if you come off the road and push in the clutch, it wants to die. Upon take off, you need to rev it a good bit or it will stumble. 02 sensor is hooked up to the location specified on the upper portion of the #4 primary. I know, seems weird that it is not in the collector, but I was told it was supposed to go there.I am still running off the stock 302 computer. I decided to do this because I am unaware of the location the 351 computer I have is from. Meaning, if it is from Denver, or someplace along the coast, the fuel maps will be completely differnet from what they would be in a computer designed for the elevation around here (~1850). One other thing, it does seem to crank over harder than the 5.0l. Timing is set at 10 degrees base, but im starting to wonder about the firing order.....
I will have to check this all out tommorrow and post my results. I do have access to an engine analyzer, so I may have to go this route, but unfortunately I wont get around to that for a few days.
Pictures to come very soon....Any questions, post away..........
