Does anybody in here know how to fix cruise control? It is unresponsive when I try to use it. Is it worth trying to fix at all?? Also, that little light on the gear shift lever that comes on when you take your OD off isn't coming on anymore when I turn my OD off. Anyone know how to get to that and fix it???
ALL fuses are good...cant even locate a fuse that's designated specifically for cruise control. I have had many little annoying problems w/ my Ford and that tells me that the Ford company is producing cheap quality trucks. I'll never buy a Ford again....geeeeese....
Generally, when cruise stopped working on one of my vehicles it was the cable. The one that runs from the throttle linkage to the vacuum actuator. I usually pay around $25 at the junk yard for one. On my truck, there is a small chain linked to the carb. That broke once and one other time I accidently knocked the vacuum line loose.
There should be a fuse for your cruise control. Mine is in the power distribution box in the engine compartment. Check your owners manual, it has the locations of the fuses in there.
When I got my truck the cruise was not working. About the time I started trying to track it down I noticed that the electrical pressure switch on the front of the brake master cylinder was leaking. Well as it turned out that pressure switch is part of the brake cut out system for the cruise control, I replaced the switch to fix the leak and now the cruise control works great.
Hey I noticed that there is some fluid leaking from my master cylinder at the front. You said it was a switch of some kind??? is it easy to fix or do I have to replace the whole master cylinder???
